One of the main characters, the teacher Jeanine, frequently references her childhood, during which she and her sister were badly neglected. She tends to try to put a positive spin on it.

Although Janine does not say "I forgive you" to her mother who is shown to be emotionally abusive and implied to have been a neglectful parent, it takes Janine several seasons before she stops trying to maintain their relationship and more directly acknowledges her mother's toxicity.
Prior to the introduction of Janine's mother Vanetta in the Season 2 episode "Mom" it is implied that Vanetta created a bad enough home life for Janine's sister to leave at the first opportunity she could, which resulted in Janine struggling living with their mother. There are few details given about the specifics of Janine and her sister's childhood, though there is implied neglect, instability, and parentification.
In the episode "Mom" Janine is shown to have a strained/low contact relationship with her mother, who is implied to be taking financial advantage of Janine by only reaching out for money. After other characters intervene on Janine's behalf, Janine sets some limited financial boundaries with her mother about money and they hug.
While Janine doesn't explicitly forgive her mother, she still keeps her in her life.
It isn't until Season 5 of the show with the episode "Birthday" that Janine seems to more fully cut out her mother from her life after she is verbally and emotionally abusive to her on her birthday. After this episode, Janine regards her mother negatively and acknowledges her toxic traits more openly than before.

In this episode Janine and Gregory are shown abusing alcohol two clubs and acting uncharacteristically aggressive to other people as a result. This is shown as negative and a cause of concern for the people around them. It is revealed in the next episode that both of them were banned from the clubs they were at for their drunken behavior.

Starting with the class pet episode and mentioned with subsequent episodes there are unsafe conditions for pets depicted that are seen as okay (small fish bowls, small enclosures for guinea pigs, no pairs for guinea pigs, a hamster ball used.)
There is no harm depicted happening to the animals as a result of this in the story, but it may be upsetting to pet owners.

No, BUT It's a Mother's Day episode and a big deal is made about how two of the teachers, Barbara and Gregory, had their mothers die years ago. So if you're touchy about deceased mother's and/or mothers day, you might want to skip this episode. There are no recent deaths of mothers or gory details or anything like that.

The first episode centers around students in a classroom where the rug that the children love breaks, and their teacher tries to figure out how to get a new one. The children ask the teachers a few questions and are sad about the rug being gone. One more emotional scene relating to the rug later on in the episode.

Idk if Gregory is autistic, but he's very particular about certain things such as only eating a select few foods, not being comfortable with being touched, wanting things to be a certain way, etc. The other teachers and adults in general in the show are not respectful to him about it. Sometimes they're teasing him, other times they're just ignoring his discomfort and forcing him into uncomfortable situations (like laying hands on him for prayer).

A minor reoccurring character portrayed by a fat actress is often seen as extremely incompetent and annoying during her initial appearances on the show.
In the Halloween episode "Candy Zombies", she and another (thinner) teacher both dress like the character Scarlet Witch, with her costume being noticeably less flattering. When the fat character says "We look exactly the same!" the thinner character makes a face at the camera and a child comes up and tells the fat character that her costume is trash.
